The EMT-A / B is a member of the Ambulance crew of the EMS services of the SIEHS. EMT-A/B Plays a crucial role in lifesaving interventions/medications for the patients/customers that use the service. EMT-A /B is the Team Leader in the ALS ( Advanced Life Support) & ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) and EMT-B is also a member of the Ambulance crew of EMS services. The EMT-B responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured and to transport the patients to a medical facility.

General Purpose:

Job Responsibilities & Authorities:

  • Prepares himself completely for performing active EMS duty by completing training with dedication whenever it is arranged by the SIEHS
  • Takes over the ambulance after duly completing the handing over and taking over procedure at the start of each shift.
  • Performs the duties of EMS with honesty and dedication in keeping with the SIEHS policies.
  • Administer medicines and perform procedures required for taking care of the patients being treated/ transported under the supervision and instructions of EMO.
  • Documents all patient care, assessments, BLS skills and all service reports in a timely fashion. Documentation shall be legible and accurate.
  • Shall transfer the patient from the scene of the accident or home to the ambulance and after arriving at the hospital transfer to the ER facility of the hospital. He will be assisted in this activity by the driver.
  • Cross checks and signs off the taking-over sheet, filled in by the EMT, for all the medicines, consumables, instruments and appliances on board the Ambulance in the patient cabin.
  • While taking charge, make sure all the reusable equipment and the Ambulance itself is disinfected/sterilized and makes sure of the same after handling each patient.
  • Performs the duties of EMS with honesty and dedication, in line with the SIEHS policies.
  • Administers medicines and performs procedures required for care of the patient being treated/ transported by himself or under the supervision and instructions of an MO.

Qualification:

Generic BScN/Post RN BSC.N/ MSc.N or 3 Years Nursing Diploma
